Faculty Bios Apply to Tri-C

This program provides an overview of the career opportunities and basic skills needed to be an effective event planner/meeting manager. Event planning essentials and an introduction to marketing and sales are the focus areas of this specialized certificate. This 9 month program is designed to assist the student in moving quickly through the basics of event planning/meeting management, and then quickly into the work place. Credits earned for this certificate may apply towards Associate of Applied Business Degree in Hospitality Management with a concentration in Hotel, Destination and Event Management, or Restaurant and Food Service Management.

Primary components of the certificate program are:

  • Significant Opportunity: Event and meeting management careers are expected to show continued significant growth in Northeast Ohio. The recent opening of casinos, hotels, restaurants and specialty venues, event and meeting management is in high demand.
  • Event Planning Concentration: develop a core understanding of the skills necessary to develop, plan, market, and manage successful events. The use of microcomputer applications is also explored.
  • Personal Development: emphasizing customer service focused communication, and effective interpersonal communication skills focused on both operations and sales management
  • Academic Development: prepares the student for problem solving, decision making, teamwork, and cultural awareness.
